The Itchen at Twyford upriver

I spent many days standing on an ancient bridge in Twyford with the river Itchen flowing beneath. Unfortunately it proved to be quite a popular crossing point for prams, bikes and pushchairs – there was plenty of width but lots of helpful comments! I learnt to come at quiet times and became very absorbed in the play of light on the water, sometimes deep and almost oily, but then fast flowing in little eddies and golden where the sun sparkled through it to the rocks and pebbles below.
