The Well at Houghton Gardens, Stockbridge

This was a plein air painting of the little well in Houghton Gardens near Stockbridge. It was a bright day and I chose this corner because of the delicious tangle of its planting, which in turn cast complicated blue and violet shadows over the warm pinky gravel.
