Winchester Allotments

I tried to make this painting convey some of the excitement I felt in response to the wonderful array of different textures and colour that greeted me as I entered this inner city allotment. The energy and shape of the growing plant forms, brushstrokes overlapping and spilling out of one colour block to another. My impression was of the randomness of nature – despite mans attempt to harness it and create order!
