Girls playing on Groins at West Wittering

This painting is really an oil sketch – I worked fast to capture the two girls who arrived with their little dog and began to play on the ruins of an old groin at West Wittering. The day was breezy, the sea a little choppy. The wind caught their skirts and hair and the dog skittered about in the shadows. I tried to catch the fleeting joy and colour of the moment.
