Garlic and Bluebells

This painting is almost an Ode to spring – following a bountiful forage for wild garlic in the woods and being unable to resist picking one or two of the straggly blue bells that grew there. As they lay on the kitchen table the sun poured through it all , unifying it with light and shadows that link all the elements.I added a checked, almost viridian, green cloth to give a contrasting discipline to all the triangles that had appeared in the composition, and the little sunny round chopping board for the fat garlic bulbs.
