Study of Tureen, Kohl Rabi and Pomegranate

It is always a joy when someone brings an object they enjoy to a painting class. This tureen had great character in its generous form, and it seemed fitting to set it up as part of a still life with large and dramatic vegetables as its companions. Filling it with blousy blooms of busy, clashing geraniums also bought it to life – the whole set up had a sort of bright, rustic opulence which was great fun to paint.
