Two Fish on a Plate

Here I was enjoying the contrast of the pattern of a Byzantine patterned antique plate under the cool Prussian blue and silver patterned mackerel. The composition is stark, but the table has a gentle warmth. I studied the fish so faithfully, even including the flash of bright scarlet blood which had leaked from under their beautiful bodies.

This painting was featured at The Grange Festival Exhibition and is currently being shown at the SWAC Exhibition with the Sou-Sou-West Gallery, Bridport.
